CTC #163: Sale-A-Bration

Hi!

I finally had the chance to play with the new Brusho Crystal Colour powders. They are a heap of fun - but messy! I started off slow with them to get a feel for them, and then ended up turning the panel I made into a card for the current CASEing The Catty Challenge. I love that my card ended up quite bold with the darker colours, as compared to the original card, which is much softer. You can find it on page 17 of the Sale-A-Bration catalogue.

I took Whisper White cardstock and brushed over the top half with an Aquapainter. I then sprinkled some Yellow Brusho over the top and spread the colour with the Aquapainter. I then repeated the process on the bottom half with the Prussian Blue Brusho. You can see a little touch of green under the banner where the two colours met.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, CASEing The Catty, Brusho, Picture Perfect Birthday, Daisy Delight, Celebrate You Thinlits

I then die cut the word 'celebrate' into the panel, and turned it onto a shaker card using Silver and Black sequins. The balloons are punched from Silver Foil paper and Black Glimmer paper, which now that I think about it, may be retired. Oops! I then tied Black and Silver Metallic Thread around the balloons and left the ends messy.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, CASEing The Catty, Brusho, Picture Perfect Birthday, Daisy Delight, Celebrate You Thinlits

I added another balloon to the inside to tie it all together. I was really thrilled with how well the Brusho colour turned out - I'll certainly be playing with it again!

A Sweet Day

Hi!

Sometimes even though you have a heap of new stuff to play with, you find yourself drawn to something that's been in your stash for a while. Do you ever find that? In this case I found myself pulling out Cool Treats to play with.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Number Of Years, Cool Treats, Frozen Treats, Cupcake Cutouts

It probably had something to do with the 'sweet' die cut. I'd purchased the Cupcake Cutout Framelits during a promotion last month and hadn't used them yet! I'm a bit of a sucker for word die cuts, I think it's the scrapbooker in me.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Number Of Years, Cool Treats, Frozen Treats, Cupcake Cutouts

Despite the Framelits not being the 'match' for this stamp set, they work together well. It was easy to chop up the stamped sentiment to replace the stamped 'sweet' with the die cut. You may be able to see the glitter over the die cut as well - there's that Wink Of Stella pen in action again!

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Number Of Years, Cool Treats, Frozen Treats, Cupcake Cutouts

I also used the WOS on the ice-cream for a bit of fun!

JAI #393: Just Add Colour

Hi!

Welcome back to another week of Just Add Ink challenges. Did you enjoy the Blog Hop last week? I sure did! Usually the DT get to see what the rest of the team have created before the challenge posts go live, but for Blog Hops it's a secret until the day. This means it's just as much fun for us as it is for you!

This week Rochelle has set the challenge, and it's a colour combination.

How awesome is that mix of greens? Or would you call Lemon Lime twist a yellow? It really doesn't matter, just get it out and get stamping!

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Just Add Ink, Fabulous Flamingo, Picture Perfect Birthday, Lots Of Labels

I thought the colour combo was very tropical, so I decided to get out my Fabulous Flamingo stamp set out and go to town with the palm fronds. I had memories of curtains in the bedroom I slept in at my Nanna's house having a similar colour scheme, although I think hers were bamboo, not palms. Nevermind, it was still lovely remembering fondly time spent with her.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Just Add Ink, Fabulous Flamingo, Picture Perfect Birthday, Lots Of Labels

I also stamped the LLT Label with the fronds. The top Whisper White layer looked a little bare with just the sentiment, so I ended up stamping a flamingo in Crumb Cake to take away from the stark white look. A couple of Gold Metallic Enamel dots and a Tranquil Tide Mini Tassel finished off the front.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Just Add Ink, Fabulous Flamingo, Picture Perfect Birthday, Lots Of Labels

A few more palm fronds on the inside and another sentiment, and it's done! The Picture Perfect Birthday stamp set has some awesome sentiments.

I hope to see you over at the Just Add Ink blog, where you can see the rest of the Design Team cards and link up your card for the challenge.

AWH January Blog Hop: Occasions Catalogue

Hi!

Tonight the Art with Heart team are sharing creative projects using product from the occasions catalogue. The occasions catalogue is current now until 31st May. Be sure to request your copy of the catalogue today (along with the sale-a-bration brochure).
Sale-a-bration is also a great time to join our fabulous team. Ask any of the girls on the hop!

When I went to On Stage last November and we were shown the front page of the Occasions Catalogue, I immediately fell in love with the butterfly card. I was thrilled to receive the stamp set in the Prize Patrol giveaway later in the day. I haven't actually used it much though - time to change that for tonight's blog hop!

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Art With Heart, Beautiful Day, Delightful Daisy DSP, Cupcake Cutout

One of the great things about the butterfly is the large open spaces within the image - perfect for colouring. But what if you're not a colourer? Or just in a lazy mood? Or you're wanting a card in a hurry? Well, you just need to find some DSP on which you can stamp the butterfly!

I chose this DSP from the Delightful Daisy pack. To be honest, I really don't like this particular sheet of paper. But sometimes you need to look at things from a different perspective, and so I decided to stamp on it and fussy cut the butterfly to see how it looked. I was amazed at how much nicer it looked! What do you think?

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Art With Heart, Beautiful Day, Delightful Daisy DSP, Cupcake Cutout

I went over the butterfly with my Wink Of Stella pen. I think I've been using it on nearly every card I've made this year!

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Art With Heart, Beautiful Day, Delightful Daisy DSP, Cupcake Cutout

I liked the look of the stamped DSP butterfly so much that I decided to make a second card. This time I paired it with the Picture Perfect Birthday stamp set, which is also in the Occasions Catalogue.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Art With Heart, Beautiful Day, Picture Perfect Birthday, Delightful Daisy DSP, Lots Of Labels

I used my Tranquil Tide marker to colour just part of the sentiment. I didn't want all of it on the front, as it would have pushed the butterfly too high up on the card.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Art With Heart, Beautiful Day, Picture Perfect Birthday, Delightful Daisy DSP, Lots Of Labels

This butterfly has had the WOS applied too - such a shame that you can't see it in the photo. The ribbon peeking out from behind the die cut is also shimmery - it's one of the Sale-A-Bration choices.

Thanks for stopping by to look at my cards. Now it’s time to hop on over to our next participant, my fellow South Aussie, Kathryn Mangelsdorf. She's bound to have something to delight you!

CTC #162

Hi!

EDIT: Oh, WOW! I was very excited to find that I had won this challenge! Thanks, CASEing The Catty Crew!

Wow, I can't believe that for the third week running I've managed to make a card for the CASEing The Catty challenge. I've really been enjoying this creative streak during the school holidays!

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, CASEing The Catty, Petal Garden, Lovely Inside & Out, Lovely Words

This card was based on the card at the bottom right of page 11 of the Occasions Catalogue. It's more of an 'inspired by' rather than a CASE, but I guess that still follows the rules of the challenge. I used a similar colour combination, a cut out element (except oval instead of circular), and the sentiment within the cut out section.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, CASEing The Catty, Petal Garden, Lovely Inside & Out, Lovely Words

The DSP I used was from the Petal Garden DSP pack. It's a cute little 6 inch pad with a lovely mix of florals and more neutral patterns. I chose a piece that had a large rose motif in one corner and die cut the friend oval using my Lovely Words Thinlit. I then took a second piece of the same DSP and fussy cut just the roses, popping them up on top of the first piece. Next, I fussy cut some extra leaves from a different piece of DSP and popped them under the roses.

The DSP under the cut out is actually a card from the coordinating Petal Garden Memories & More pack. I liked the subtle leaf pattern better than any of the other Old Olive designs in the DSP. Finally, I used a few offcuts and a short length of Silver Mini Sequin Trim that had been floating around on my desk to create the feature at the top right of the card. The original card didn't have anything there, but I felt that my card looked a little strange with nothing in that corner.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, CASEing The Catty, Petal Garden, Lovely Inside & Out, Lovely Words

The inside I left super simple - just some DSP offcuts to add some colour. I though that it would be nice to have a lot of space for writing about how grateful I am when I use the card!

Bubble Over For A 50th Birthday

Hi!

Just after Christmas one of Rob's mates turned 50. An important birthday requires an important card, and Rob knew he was a home brewer of beer, so I decided to put the Bubble Over bundle to good use to make a beer themed card.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Sale-A-Bration, Bubble Over Suite, Bubbles and Fizz DSP, Mixed Drinks, Milestone Moments

Can you tell which brand of beer inspired this card? LOL.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Sale-A-Bration, Bubble Over Suite, Bubbles and Fizz DSP, Mixed Drinks, Milestone Moments

I die cut the two different sized labels from the Bottles and Bubbles Framelits set, and then added a punched star from a retired punch set. The largest labels and the bottle tops are both cut from Silver Foil paper.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Sale-A-Bration, Bubble Over Suite, Bubbles and Fizz DSP, Mixed Drinks, Milestone Moments

The DSP I used on the front was repeated on the inside. The Real Red piece is from the Tutti Frutti pack and the Lemon Lime Twist piece is from the Sale-A-Bration pack called Bubbles and Fizz. It's the perfect accompaniment to the Bubble Over suite!

JAI #392: Just Add Something New Blog Hop

Hi!

Welcome back to another fun year of Just Add Ink challenges! As usual, we are kicking off the year with a Blog Hop. You may have just arrived here from Jan's blog, where I'm sure you found something very inspiring, or you may be starting out here. Doesn't matter, just keep hopping until you get back to where you started!

What a perfect theme for a new year: something new. It can be either new product, or a card for something new, like a new house, new baby - anything that fits the something new theme! I've done a bit of both by using new products on a congratulations card that could be used to celebrate anything new in someone's life.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Just Add Ink, Sale-A-Bration, Sweet Soiree Memories & More, Beautiful Bouquet, Bouquet Bunch Framelits

In making this card, I've done something I don't usually do. I've used some of our new Memories and More cards as the feature on this card. Both the spotty background and the main flower panel are from the Sweet Soiree Memories and More card pack, which is a new Sale-A-Bration choice. All I had to do was trim the larger card to fit the card front and add a bit of Wink Of Stella to the flower image. I also added some WOS to the Rich Razzleberry card underneath the main panel. Hopefully you can see it sparkling nicely in the photo.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Just Add Ink, Sale-A-Bration, Sweet Soiree Memories & More, Beautiful Bouquet, Bouquet Bunch Framelits

How sweet is this ribbon that I've added to the card? It's actually two different ribbons that I've layered. It took a few goes to get the bow looking perfect, but I'm glad I persevered, as I think it looks great. Both ribbons are new - the Calypso Coral shimmer ribbon is a part of a three pack that is a Sale-A-Bration choice, and the Whisper White Organza can be found on page 23 of the Occasions Catalogue.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Just Add Ink, Sale-A-Bration, Sweet Soiree Memories & More, Beautiful Bouquet, Bouquet Bunch Framelits

Here's some more new product on the inside of the card. The flower sticker is from the new Sweet Soiree Embellishment Kit, which is on page 13 of the Occasions Catalogue. It matches perfectly with the image on the front, except that it is outlined in Silver Foil instead of black. So pretty! The dotty piece is the section I chopped off the M&M card to make it fit the card base. Nothing gets wasted!

Thanks for checking out my 'something new' card. Next you're off to see the gorgeous card that Di has made for our Just Add Ink blog hop.

Another Scrappy Peacock

Hi!

I mentioned in a previous post that instead of tidying my craft space, as I usually do each summer, I got sidetracked by some DSP, a peacock and my new Stamparatus. I used the Stamparatus to stamp the peacock, but I had so much fun that I decided to stamp it in backwards order.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Sale-A-Bration, Beautiful Peacock, Birthday Memories DSP, Polka Dot Basics TIEF

What do I mean by backwards order? Well, usually you'd stamp the body, then the tail, then the flourishy bit, and finally the dots. To do it backwards, I simply started with the dots. It was fun seeing the image form that way.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Sale-A-Bration, Beautiful Peacock, Birthday Memories DSP, Polka Dot Basics TIEF

One of the key benefits of the Stamparatus is that it stamps in exactly the same place, over and over again. In this case, the Pacific Point tail didn't stamp fully, so I was able to reink the stamp and try again. Yay! How many times have you stamped a sentiment that doesn't all stamp so you have to try to fix it, and it ends up blurry or looking worse than it did before you tried? No longer a problem!

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Sale-A-Bration, Beautiful Peacock, Birthday Memories DSP, Polka Dot Basics TIEF

There are a few cute little sequin type stamps in the Beautiful Peacock SAB set. It's sometimes easy to over look these. I used them on the front in the circles that were embossed using the Polka Dot Basics TIEF, and also on the inside to add some more colour.

Am I selling you on the Stamparatus yet? LOL

CASEing The Catty #161

Hi!

EDIT: Oh, wow! Soooo excited that I won the challenge with this card!

I happened to be checking out Facebook last night when the CASEing The Catty crew posted their new challenge. This week they are challenging us to CASE anything from the Sale-A-Bration catalogue. After a quick browse, I decided on the card on the top right of page 16.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, CASEing The Catty, Epic Celebrations, Colour Theory, Embossing Paste, Blends

I don't have the stamp set that was used to create the card in the catalogue (Amazing You), so I decided to use another SAB set, Epic Celebrations. I'm totally loving this set!

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, CASEing The Catty, Epic Celebrations, Colour Theory, Embossing Paste, Blends

I started by applying some Silver Embossing Paste through the brick wall mask to the Old Olive card base. The trainers, headphones and guitar were stamped and coloured with Blends. A little trick with the trainers is to go around the outside of the rage with a light marker. In this case I used the Light Crumb Cake Blend. This makes the white on the trainers stand out more.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, CASEing The Catty, Epic Celebrations, Colour Theory, Embossing Paste, Blends

Don't the dots make a great background for the rest of the images in this set? I think so!

Picture Perfect Party Blowers

Hi!

I received this stamp set, Picture Perfect, when I attended last November's On Stage event in Melbourne. It's a really cute set that you can mix and match the images to create candles, cakes and even party blowers. You know - those really annoyingly sounding whistles that have a roll of paper that unfurls when you blow on it?

Thankfully, there's no sound component with this card! There are four different stamps that make up these blowers - a plain 'body', a patterned stamp to go over the top of the body, the fringing piece, and finally the roll of paper bit.  Oooh, I just realised this would be a great set for the Stamparatus!

I stamped the confetti image. many times underneath where I wanted the blowers to sit. They were fussy cut by hand - no framelits for this set! I also curled some silver thread behind the blowers for a bit of extra bling.

It was fun mixing and matching the colours to create the four different party blowers. It did mean lots of cleaning of the stamps though!

Tina

CASEing The Catty #160

Hi!

EDIT: I was so excited to be awarded the Crew Pick for this card! Thanks to the CTC Crew!

Often when the school year kicks into full gear I have way less free time on my hands. So over the summer break I try to enter a few challenges. Today's card is for CASEing The Catty Challenge #160, which is to CASE a card from pages 4-9 of the new Occasions Catalogue. I also had two team members celebrating their first anniversaries with Stamping' Up!, so I thought I'd kill two birds by using the challenge as a launch point for making them a card each.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, CASEing The Catty, Sunshine Wishes, Sunshine Sayings, Tutti-Frutti DSP

The card that caught my eye was the card on the left on page 7 - the front of the roller coaster card. I don't have that bundle, it was more the layout of the card that inspired me. I also had a few panels of card that I'd used embossing paste with the could stencil on that were laying around on my desk ready to use. Bonus!

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, CASEing The Catty, Sunshine Wishes, Sunshine Sayings, Tutti-Frutti DSP

I loved the layering of ribbons on the front, so I did the same on this card. I have a bad habit of buying the sequin trim and not using it as it's too pretty to cut into. Sound familiar? This was a great time to bust it open, as I wanted these cards to be special for my team girls. I also blinged up the die cut sentiment by running my Wink Of Stella pen over the top. Instant shimmer!

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, CASEing The Catty, Sunshine Wishes, Sunshine Sayings, Tutti-Frutti DSP

Thanks for checking in with my blog. I'm off to look for some other challenges to participate in before the summer holidays are over and life turns crazy again!

Tina

A Scrappy Peacock

Hi!

I'm back for another year of blogging!

One of the things I try to get done each summer is a huge tidy up of my craft space. I got a little bit done before I came across some scraps of Birthday Memories DSP. I straight away thought that the colours would work well with the new Beautiful Peacock stamp set. Given that my new Stamparatus had just arrived, stamping won over more cleaning!

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Sale-A-Bration, Beautiful Peacock, Birthday Memories DSP

Do you agree? I think the bright, cheerful colours work nicely! My favourite paper from the Birthday Memories DSP pack is the striped sheet, so I wanted to make it a secondary feature of the card.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Sale-A-Bration, Beautiful Peacock, Birthday Memories DSP

The peacock was so easy to stamp using the Stamparatus. You simply place the stamp where you want it, use the plate to pick it up, ink it and then stamp it exactly where you want it. If you're local to me and want to have a go, just get in touch! If you aren't, there are a heap of videos online showing how to use it.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Sale-A-Bration, Beautiful Peacock, Birthday Memories DSP

The peacock in the middle was stamped free hand - no Stamparatus. You can definitely tell, as it's not lined up as well as on the front. Oh well!

Bye for now,

Tina
